EVOlving: A concept design for Evi Malisianou’s portfolio website

This was a very graphical proposed design for Evi Malisianou’s Interaction Design online portfolio (www.EVOthing.com). It was meant as an experimentation with an unusual graphical layout and with playful yet simple interactive tricks, such as the faces following the mouse cursor with their eyes.
Follow the link and click on one of the faces to see it’s reaction.

3D capacity Logo

3D capacity is a company specialized in the field of 3D outsourcing. Their logo reflects how they create 3D solutions that perfectly fit their client’s needs.

3D capacity logo - FINAL

A little explanation on what the logo stands for:

  • The largest part of the segmented ring represents the client and their current infrastructure.
  • The smallest part represents the solutions delivered by 3D Capacity, which are a perfect fit for the client’s needs.
  • Both together they form a closed ring (a whole), a shape representing the clients organization becoming more solid and complete (thanks to our help).
  • The bigger part of the ring also forms the shape of a ‘C’ for ‘capacity’
  • Both shapes are clearly 3D to represent the nature of our products and solutions.
  • A one-point pespective is used for the ring to make it look more massive.
  • The font is custom made, simple and modern looking giving the logo a touch of uniqueness.

Hong Kong Design Institute – Logo competition

The Hong Kong Design Institute held an international competition to design their new logo. Every individual could enter up to 3 different proposals that reflected the values and interests the Design institute seeks to promote.
The following are the 3 proposals that I submitted to the competition.

HDKI - Logo 1

This logo is both an abstraction of the letters H and K and of a human figure that symbolizes how the people are central to the design practice in general and how the students are the institute’s biggest asset. (more…)

Muse – an MP3 player with an e-ink/touch based interface

Muse 2As part of a design exercise at the TU Delft we were given the task to design a logo and an interface based entirely on typography for an MP3 player. The player was in the shape of a cylinder and would use e-ink and a touch sensitive surface as a use interface.

By clicking the image below, you can open an interactive model which I made in flash, to illustrate how the interface looked and worked.

DSVV Punch – 10 years logo

Punch - 01Punch is a student sport union in delft and in the year 2005 they were celebrating a decade as owners of their own ‘boat-bar’.

They asked me to design a logo  for the celebration, which could be used in different types of print material, such as flyers, posters and even beer glasses.

The logo was made in a single color to allow for a flexible use in different media, and of course, the 10 years anniversary and the boat were central in the design.

You can see an example of one of the beer glasses underneath.

TweenSense logo

TweenSense is a company where I used to work which was specialised in interactive 3D environments for architectural plans. They needed a redesign of their logo that would reflect on the nature of their business.

I designed this logo as an upgrade on  TweenSense’s previous logo (an orange cube), by giving it a sketchy look that can be associated to hand made sketches of 3D solids which is typical in the architectural design world. It is combined with a font used typically in basic print material such as blueprints. (more…)

Willy Valdera – FifaColombia’s mascot

Willy ValderaWillie Valdera is my first and so far only attempt at character creation. It was conceived as FifaColombia.com’s mascot and as such, he is an Andean condor (Colombia’s national symbol). His name is a wink at Willington Ortiz and Carlos “El Pibe” Valderrama, the 2 best colombian players of all time.

I created a couple of screen-savers that could be downloaded from FifaColombia.com. They featured Willy Valdera wearing the jersey of different South American clubs and national teams.

An example of the animation used for the screen-saver can be seen underneath. (more…)
